Hospitality Point of Sale Systems have revolutionized the industry. Many restaurants and bar's employ systems that will be connected to a network. These are integrated systems meaning all of your Epos terminals, printers and back office is all connected and talking to each other. This makes it very easy to manage all reports and maximizes service.
The Epos "System" itself consists of a touch screen terminal, printer, cash drawer and software. If a restaurant had more than one Epos System then they will connect to a server often referred to as a "store controller." This will effectively create a network in your bar or restaurant and all printers can be found on the network. This allows an Epos till in the bar for example, to send a new order to the kitchen printer. The efficiency of such systems have decreased service times and increased efficiency of orders.
EPOS solutions are typically used by businesses that have regular sales, e.g. retailers, hotels, restaurants, bars etc. Any business that maintains stock or provides sellable services, can benefit from an EPOS solution. Such solutions offer fast and accurate product information, help increase efficiency throughout the business, provide increased levels of customer satisfaction and therefore become very valuable to any business that has sales. Such benefits are useful whatever your business size.
Below is an example of how a 3 Till Epos system might be connected. Here we can see that there are 2 Epos Terminals in the Bar and 1 in the restaurant.
All of the 3 terminals are connected to the server, as is the kitchen printer and back office. This will allow any terminal including the two bar terminals to send orders
to the kitchen. The restaurant for restaurant orders and the bar for bar food orders.
All system activity is been stored on the server. The back office software connected directly to the server so all reports and products can be management from here.
If the manager wanted to change the price of a beverage, updating the beverage price from the back office system would update the price automatically across all Epos Terminals.
Product prices can also be changed directly on the Epos Terminal itself.
